HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 39

Requesting the Division of Highways to name bridge number 2223, presently known as "Booths Creek Bridge," crossing over 73/73 on I-79 in Marion County the "Dana Lee Lynch, Jr. Memorial Bridge."

Whereas, Dana Lee Lynch, Jr., of Webster Springs, West Virginia, was born on July 24, 1973, the only child of Dana and Charlotte Lynch; and
Whereas, Dana Lee Lynch, Jr., graduated from Webster County High School in 1991. After graduation he worked for Quality Contracting Company setting telephone poles. In 1996, he gained employment with CSX Transportation as a conductor/engineer trainee in Florence, South Carolina, later being transferred to Charleston, South Carolina; and
Whereas, On Sunday, August 17, 1997, Dana Lee Lynch, Jr., was traveling to Cumberland Maryland for additional training, and on I-79, near mile marker 130, a tractor-trailer, traveling south, crossed the median into the northbound lane and tragically killed him; and
Whereas, Dana Lee Lynch, Jr., is sadly missed by his loving parents, his wife, Rebecca, and his young daughter, Dana Lee, who was born just seven weeks after the tragic death of her father; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Legislature hereby requests the Division of Highways to name the bridge number 2223, presently known as "Booths Creek Bridge," crossing over 73/73 on I-79, the "Dana Lee Lynch, Jr. Memorial Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Division of Highways cause an appropriate sign to be placed at both ends of this bridge which will designate the bridge as being the "Dana Lee Lynch, Jr. Memorial Bridge"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Secretary of the Department of Transportation and the Commissioner of the Division of Highways.
